Project Coordination
A curator's approach to building fine residential homes in the classical tradition. An exercise in refinement, we carefully oversee every aspect of installation to ensure proper principles and methods are employed. The result is a level of quality and authenticity that gives each house a unique character. In this process we collaborate with tradesmen, vendors and artisans.
Custom Fabrication
The process varies from cabinet shop to our windows and doors
division, but in every case, from rough-out to finishing,
we have master craftsmen responsible for the final product.
House Purchasing
We are often asked to help clients in the process of selecting
an existing home, or to help in comparing different potential
houses for purchase. This is not a home inspection service
per se, rather, we provide potential homeowners with valuable
insight into the design possibilities and potential costs
of renovating an older home. This kind of information provides
potential buyers with the information they need to decide
if a particular house will truly serve their needs. Remedial
issues are also carefully considered, and estimates of probably
costs can be provided if necessary.
Construction Issues
We offer diagnostic and remedial studies for repairs to an
existing house. These can take the form of analysis of rot
and other obvious damage, along with suggestions for repair
and phasing if necessary. We discuss historic preservation
issues with our clients and offer strategies for implementation.
House mechanical systems can also be scrutinized with an eye
toward improvements or augmentation. The Classic Group often
tackles the retrofitting of old houses with modern technologies
for home offices, media centers, communications devices and
computer equipment.
Residential Design
In addition to being specialists in traditional and historic
house styles, we have a profound knowledge of construction
practices and a very real sense of what costs are likely to
be incurred in our projects. We are able to help guide homeowners
to realistic, cost effective solutions to their design problems,
thus saving design costs wherever possible.
